Car Audio speakers Overview

You must have great car audio speakers if you want to have a great car audio system.

There is no way to get around the fact that without good car audio speakers you cannot get great sound.

There are hundreds of brands of car audio speakers including mb quart, jl audio, rockford fosgate and power acoustik.

There are more than 20 different sizes and shapes that may or may not work in your vehicle. Many vehicles call for a 6 x 9 but a 6.5" component set with a 1" tweeter will work find with a modified plate. There is really no limit as long as you are creative.

Price does not always relate to the quality of a speaker. For example, if you have $200 to spend on speakers and you see a pair of fosgates for $188 and you listen to them and they don't sound any better than the power acoustik speakers for $75 don't get sucked into buying just because of the brand name. Instead save your money and add it to a great amp or head units.

Car audio speakers generally come in a few different styles.

1. Coaxial Speakers- this usually means that the drivers are all mounted in the speaker, for example, the tweeter is usually mounted on top of the mid range driver.

2. Component Speakers- this is the type of speaker that usually has an external tweeter and a seperate mid range or mid bass speaker.

How is speaker built? 
Here are details about a few of the parts. There is a voice coil that moves back and forth creating sound. The surround system is usually rubber or something similar that supports the cone.
